# Sovara chat for traces

> Use chat to query and reason about recorded traces.

Sovara chat gives you a fast read on a recorded trace before you inspect every
node by hand. It answers from the trace context and points you toward the steps
that matter.

Open <strong><Icon icon="message-square-text" size={14} /> Sovara chat</strong>
from the trace side panel.

## One conversation, everywhere

Chat is unified across the project: the same conversation follows you between
the main Sovara chat page, traces, Annotation, and Lessons. Ask a question in the
main chat, open a trace, and it is still there — with a small separator marking
that you opened that trace.

In the trace side panel, click the current conversation's title above the
messages to switch to a different conversation, or click
<strong><Icon icon="plus" size={14} /> New chat</strong> when you want
a clean starting point. On the main Sovara chat page, pick a conversation from
the list on the left, or click <strong>New conversation</strong> at its top.

When you send a message from a trace's side panel, Sovara chat uses whichever trace is currently open
on screen as the context for your question — whether you opened the chat from
a trace or while reviewing a trace from Annotation, and even if the conversation
started somewhere else entirely.

Good first questions include:

* What was this trace trying to do?
* What input did the agent receive?
* Which steps mattered most?
* Where did the trace likely fail?

When you find a meaningful issue, use the trace view to inspect the exact node and
decide whether the fix belongs in code, prompts, tools, or Lessons.
